Sowing of winter grain crops begins in seven regions of Ukraine

Ukrainian farmers have already started to sow winter grain crops, such as wheat, rye and barley, in seven regions.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The sowing of winter crops has started in Ukraine. Winter wheat, rye and barley are already being sown in seven regions,” the report states.

At the moment, a total of 7.64 thousand hectares have been sown with grain crops, namely 5.17 thousand hectares with wheat, 2 thousand hectares with barley and 0.47 thousand hectares with rye.

The largest amount of crops was sown in Chernihiv Region (3.40 thousand hectares). The top three leaders also included Vinnytsia Region (1.9 thousand hectares) and Lviv Region (1.10 thousand hectares).

Meanwhile, the sowing of winter rapeseed is underway across all regions of Ukraine. So far, a total of 686 thousand hectares have been sown with winter rapeseed. The largest amount of rapeseed was sown in Dnipropetrovsk Region (87.9 thousand hectares), Odesa Region (72 thousand hectares), Ternopil Region (63.7 thousand hectares), Vinnytsia Region (58.2 thousand hectares) and Kirovohrad Region (55.9 thousand hectares).

Farmers from Volyn Region, Rivne Region, Ternopil Region, Cherkasy Region and Chernivtsi Region have already finished the sowing of winter rapeseed.
