IMF allocates $1.4B in additional support to Ukraine

The International Monetary Fund has allocated $1.4 billion in additional support to Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.

"Had a phone conversation with IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Thanked for the allocation of $1.4 billion of additional support. Discussed future cooperation to increase Ukraine's financial stability," he wrote.

The Council of the EU on September 9 approved EUR 5 billion as another tranche of the emergency macro-financial aid package to Ukraine, which is part of a total package of EUR 9 billion.

On February 24, Russia began a new phase of its war against Ukraine - a full-scale invasion. Russian invaders are shelling and bombing peaceful cities, towns and villages in Ukraine, torturing and killing the civilian population. Ukraine's defense forces are fiercely resisting Russian invaders.
