Shmyhal, Dombrovskis discuss preparations for ‘customs visa waiver’
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Executive Vice President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis have discussed expanding cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union, and increased bilateral trade.
The relevant statement was made by the Government portal, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
During an online conversation, the parties raised the issue of replacing sanctioned Russian products in the EU with Ukrainian products.
In addition, they discussed preparations for the ‘customs visa waiver’, which is starting from October 1, and efforts towards the signing of the ACAA, or the so-called ‘industrial visa waiver’, as well as cooperation in the financial sector for 2022 and 2023.
“We are grateful for the timely help of the European Union in the fight against the Russian aggressor. We appreciate the disbursement of significant macro-financial assistance from the EU,” Shmyhal noted.
The parties also talked about the increase in border throughput capacity between Ukraine and the EU. The Prime Minister of Ukraine offered a solution to the European Commission that would help reduce queues at the relevant checkpoints.
