Economy Ministry calls on Lithuanian business to invest in Ukraine
Political and military support for Ukraine should go hand in hand with economic support as it will help Ukraine to overcome all wartime challenges and provide citizens with stable living conditions.
"Currently, we need the courage of Lithuanian businesses to continue operating in Ukraine. We need your support in restoring the infrastructure as soon as possible in many regions of Ukraine, in particular, in the de-occupied regions. But the main thing we need is new investments. Despite the circumstances, it is important to show that the war is not an embargo on investments in Ukraine," First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said speaking at the annual Lithuanian Economic Forum via video link, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry's press service.
She noted Ukraine would appreciate any investment projects launched in the conditions of constant threats posed by Russia.
According to Svyrydenko, the prospects of such cooperation are mutually beneficial because Ukrainian integration into the EU internal market creates many opportunities for Lithuanian companies that want to scale up their business and participate in the European supply chain. And this, in turn, ensures the economic stability of the entire region.
"The experience of stability and cooperation even in such difficult conditions will only strengthen economic relations between Ukraine and Lithuania. I am sure that it is important not only now but also strategically. And the decision to grant Ukraine the EU candidate status is only a starting point for long-term economic development, which will be supported by recovery projects," the minister added.
