Six more grain ships leave Ukrainian ports

Six ships carrying agricultural products left Ukrainian seaports on October 24 as part of the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

According to Ukrinform, the press service of Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure said this in a statement on Telegram.

"'Grain initiative': six ships with 227,000 tonnes of agricultural products left the ports of Greater Odesa for countries in Africa, Asia and Europe," the report said.

The bulk carrier MBC DAISY will deliver 14,000 tonnes of wheat to Algeria, it added.

The ministry said that Russia is artificially delaying the inspection of ships in the Bosphorus (which led to a queue of more than 170 ships), so Ukrainian ports are forced to work at only 25-30% of their capacity.

Since the departure of the first ship with Ukrainian foodstuffs, Ukraine has exported 8.8 million tonnes of agricultural products. In total, 386 ships departed Ukrainian ports for countries in Asia, Europe and Africa.

On July 22 in Istanbul, at the United Nations' proposal, Ukraine, Turkey and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres signed the Initiative on the Safe Transportation of Grain and Foodstuffs from the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi.

The first ship with Ukrainian food left the port of Odesa on August 1.
