MFA: Russia's withdrawal from ‘grain agreement’ signifies course towards destabilizing food security

The statement made by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation about the suspension of Russia's participation in the grain initiative is the implementation of Moscow's course towards destabilizing global food security.

"We consider the message by the Russian Ministry of Defense about the suspension of Russia's participation in the grain agreement as the implementation of Moscow's course towards destabilizing global food security under a false pretext of the recent events in Sevastopol," Oleg Nikolenko, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, posted on Facebook.

He noted that the Russian side continued to torpedo the operation of the Black Sea grain corridor in every possible way, questioning the expediency of its further functioning. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has repeatedly warned about this, in particular in its statement on October 24.

"Now it is extremely important that the UN and Turkey, as guarantors of the grain agreement, as well as countries that depend on Ukrainian grain exports, send a clear signal to Russia about the inadmissibility of keeping hundreds of millions of people in the world, in particular in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, as hostages of hunger games of the Kremlin," the Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

As reported, Russia accused Ukraine and Britain of "terrorist attacks against ships of the Black Sea Fleet and civilian vessels involved in guaranteeing the security of the grain corridor" and announced its withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba called on the international community not to allow Russia to block the grain corridor, which ensures food security for millions of people, under a false pretext.

On the morning of October 29, explosions rang out in temporarily occupied Sevastopol.
