Canada allocates CAD30M for Ukrainian grain exports

The Government of Canada will provide CAD30 million (about US$23 million) to support the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

This was announced by the Ministry of International Development of Canada, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Canada is providing $30 million in humanitarian funding to the World Food Programme to facilitate additional shipments of Ukrainian grain moving through the Black Sea Grain Initiative toward countries grappling with acute food insecurity," the ministry said in a statement.

It was noted that the funding "will help feed the growing number of people around the world facing hunger."

"Canada commends Ukraine on its commitment to donating grain to help address the global food crisis as part of its Grain from Ukraine humanitarian initiative, which was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the G20 Summit last week," the statement said.

Taking into account the new funds, this year Canada has already allocated $615 million to help feed people in countries facing the most severe food crises.
