Ukraine gets $1.5B grant from United States
Ukraine's state budget has received a $1.5 billion grant from the United States, which will be used for pension payments and certain programs for state social assistance.
That's according to the press service of the Ukrainian Finance Ministry, Ukrinform reports.
"This is the first tranche of a $4.5 billion grant that was provided by the United States through the World Bank's Trust Fund under the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance in Ukraine (PEACE) Project," the report reads.
It added that the raised funds from the Multi-Donor Trust Fund would be used for pension payments and certain programs for state social assistance, such as payments housing and utility services, support for low-income families, disabled children and those disabled from childhood, IDPs, as well as payment for medical services under the medical guarantees program, etc.
On November 24, Ukraine's Minister of Finance Serhiy Marchenko and World Bank Regional Country Director for Eastern Europe (Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine) Arup Banerji signed an agreement on disbursing a $4.5 billion grant to Ukraine.
