Energoatom, Urenco discuss fuel supplies for Ukrainian NPPs
Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine President Petro Kotin and Urenco CEO Boris Schucht have held an online meeting and discussed the supply of fuel for Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs).
The relevant statement was made by Energoatom National Nuclear Energy Generating Company of Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
The representatives of the two companies discussed the issue of increasing the supply of enriched uranium to Westinghouse in order to produce nuclear fuel for Ukrainian NPPs in 2024-2025.
On August 1, 2019, Energoatom and Urenco signed a contract for the supply of enriched uranium. In April 2022, the next round of negotiations took place between the two companies against the background of Ukraine’s complete withdrawal from Russian nuclear fuel.
Additionally, the heads of the companies agreed to establish long-term cooperation in terms of enriched uranium supplies for Energoatom from 2026.
