US imposes new sanctions on Russia

The U.S. Department of the Treasury on Thursday released a list of new sanctions against Russia, which includes ten Russian companies and research institutions related to the marine technology sector.

That's according to a Specially Designated Nationals list update posted on the website of the Office of Foreign Assets Control, Ukrinform reports.

In particular, the list includes JSC Kontsern Morinformsistema Agat, NRC Kurchatov Institute Crism Prometey, JSC Battery Company Rigel, Central Research Institute of Marine Engineering, Concern Avrora, Central Research Institute Concern Elektropribor and other institutions.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a statement on Thursday, clarifying the introduction of new restrictions against Russia.

"In the wake of Russian naval operations against Ukrainian ports, including those that are providing much-needed food and grain to the world, the United States today is imposing sanctions on Russian naval entities," Blinken said.

He added that the United States would use all appropriate measures to deter Russia's attacks on Ukraine.

"These accountability measures underscore a simple message: the Kremlin must end its brutal campaign against Ukraine," Blinken said.
