Shmyhal, Grossi coordinate actions to guarantee safety at Ukraine’s nuclear facilities
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi have coordinated actions to guarantee safety at all nuclear facilities in Ukraine.
The head of the Ukrainian government said this in a Telegram post following the meeting with Grossi in Kyiv, Ukrinform reports.
According to Shmyhal, today the IAEA is finalizing the stationing of continuous missions at Ukrainian nuclear power plants: Rivne, Chornobyl and South Ukraine NPPs. The agency’s mission at Khmelnytskyi NPP will launch its work in the coming days.
"Together with Director General Rafael Grossi, we coordinated our actions to guarantee safety at all nuclear facilities in Ukraine. Support and technical assistance missions will ensure technological safety at plants, in particular at the Zaporizhzhia NPP," the Prime Minister said.
According to Shmyhal, Grossi assured him that the IAEA would never recognize Russia as an owner of the Ukrainian Zaporizhzhia NPP. "We will continue to work on the complete withdrawal of Russian troops and Rosatom personnel from the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and the return of the plant to the control of Ukraine," Shmyhal said.
As reported, the IAEA team led by Director General Rafael Grossi is on a working visit to Ukraine.
