Deputy PM: Ukraine counting on economic growth already this year

Ukraine is counting on economic growth already this year and intends to continue cooperation with partners on solving key issues, including business security, logistics, and attracting foreign investment.

"Ukraine has every opportunity to ensure economic growth this year. Despite the damage to the power grid, it now operates without disruption. We have all the necessary stocks of agricultural resources to start the sowing campaign. And business, in general, has already adjusted to work in new conditions," First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko said during a meeting with European Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry's press service.

As noted, the economic growth this year will depend primarily on improving the effectiveness of air defense which protects business, attracting investments, as well as logistics on which the successful implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative depends.

"Also, we are trying to restore the activities of European insurance companies in Ukraine, for reinsurance that can be carried out by European states. All this should contribute to the economic and financial growth of business in our country," Svyrydenko added.

As reported, Japan announced a $5.5 billion financial aid package to Ukraine for the reconstruction of infrastructure, while the Government of Norway pledged a EUR 7.5 billion multi-year support program for the military, economic, and humanitarian areas.
