Reconstruction main task for post-war period - PM Shmyhal

Without waiting for the war to end, Ukraine continues to work on the reconstruction of energy, housing, critical, and social infrastructure.

That’s according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, who spoke at a government meeting on February 24, Ukrinform reports.

"The key word this year is victory. The second top word this year is recovery. Already now. Not waiting for the end of the war. Reconstruction has already begun. Fast and efficient. We have drawn up a plan. A reconstruction agency has been created. Projects have been launched. A budgetary fund has been formed. We have already found part of the financing," said the prime minister.

Shmyhal also emphasized once again that Ukraine needs another $17 billion for rapid reconstruction. Energy, housing, demining, critical and social infrastructure, economic recovery, and support for the private sector are the government’s main priorities.

"We are working with partners to make this all happen. We are preparing for the Ukrainian Marshall Plan. We are building a coalition to restore Ukraine," Shmyhal added.

As reported, on February 20, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with the head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, and the IMF team, announcing that Ukraine expects to start a new cooperation program in the amount of more than $15 billion.
