Energy ministry: Ukraine may export carbon-free electricity, green hydrogen

Ukraine has good prospects for exporting not only carbon-free electricity but also green or low-carbon hydrogen.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Energy Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Ukraine can become an exporter of not only carbon-free electricity but also green or carbon-free hydrogen and its derivatives, such as green ammonia and green methanol,” Ukrainian Energy Deputy Minister Yaroslav Demchenkov said.

Demchenkov noted Ukraine’s significant energy potential that could help Europe to strengthen its energy security and called on European businesses to start working on relevant joint projects and investing in the restoration of Ukraine’s energy sector as soon as now.

“We need to create conditions for most of the added value to remain in Ukraine, and for this purpose we need the support of our partners in the field of renewable technologies and affordable financing,” Demchenkov added.
