Minister Reznikov on grain deal extension: 60 or 90 days to be a matter of discussion
Ukraine’s priority objective is to continue the operation of the ‘grain corridor’ in order to prevent hunger in the world. The duration of the agreement will be decided at the negotiating table.
The relevant statement was made by Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov during a joint briefing with Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren at Media Center Ukraine - Odesa, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The key value is to provide people living in Africa, Asia, who may be facing hunger, with food. The number of days, 60 or 90, is a matter of discussion at the negotiating table. Hence, in my opinion, it is essential for the grain deal not to be interrupted,” Reznikov told.
In his words, Russia has made several attempts to provoke the grain deal but failed, because there is a principled stance of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of Türkiye, acting as partners of Ukraine in this grain agreement.
A reminder that, between March 6, 2023 and March 12, 2023, a total of 654,000 tonnes of agricultural products were exported via the Odesa region’s sea ports, which is 36% lower compared to the previous week.
