As no one able to help Ukraine liberate nuclear plant, other mechanisms needed - Zelensky
President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine insists on finding mechanisms to liberate the Russian-captured Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, as currently no international institution can resolve the issue.
The leader stated this during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"Today we discussed ways to find a more effective mechanism for the de-occupation of our nuclear plant. Because the format in which we live, with all due respect and gratitude to what Mr. (IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano - ed.) Grossi has been doing to solve this situation, nothing is helping the Zaporizhia plant so far, no international institution has been able to solve the issue so far. That's why we have to find other mechanisms," Zelensky said.
As reported, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida is visiting Ukraine on Tuesday.
The USA, EU, and a number of individual Western nations have repeatedly called on the Russian Federation to withdraw troops from the territory of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant and return control of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant to Ukraine.
