Türkiye completes laying of Black Sea gas pipe
Türkiye has completed the laying of a pipeline from the Sakarya gas field in the Black Sea to an onshore point. Gas supplies are set to launch on April 20.
The relevant statement was made by the state-owned Türkiye Petrolleri A.O., the project operator, Ukrinform reports.
"The installation of pipes connecting our energy base in the Black Sea with the onshore facility of the Sakarya gas field has been successfully completed," the company said.
It is noted that the start of gas supplies is scheduled for April 20.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on August 21, 2020, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Türkiye said that the drilling ship Fatih had discovered 320 billion cubic meters of natural gas at the Sakarya gas field in the Danube-1 well. On October 17, 2020, another 85 bcm of gas was discovered in the Danube-1 well. One more location holding 135 bcm was found in the Amasra-1 well. Turkey’s gas offshore gas reserves in the Black Sea have so far reached an estimated 540 bcm.
