Akhmetov files claim against Russia over assets seized in Donbas
Rinat Akhmetov has initiated arbitration proceedings against Russia and will demand compensation for the losses incurred as a result of interference with his business in temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the period 2014-2017.
This is said in a statement released by the SCM Group's press service, Ukrinform reports.
“I am filing a claim against the aggressor country for the full compensation for all the losses we have suffered since 2014 in the illegally occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. Justice must be restored, and the aggressor must be held accountable both financially and in the criminal proceedings,” Akhmetov said.
The company stresses that it is about interference in the activities or expropriation of dozens of enterprises in the sectors of mining and metals, energy, and real estate, including Yenakiyeve Iron and Steel Works, DTEK Rovenkianthracite, DTEK Sverdlovanthracite, Kirsha Training Centre, and Donbas Arena.
It is stressed that the funds received as compensation for the losses will be directed to the restoration of Ukraine in the future.
