Ukraine may start electricity exports to Slovakia from Monday

From Monday, April 17, 2023, Ukraine may start electricity exports to Slovakia, totaling 200 megawatts per hour.

The relevant statement was made by Ukrenergo National Power Company on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The first auction for the distribution of interstate network capacity for the export of electricity towards Slovakia took place on April 15, 2023 with a delivery date scheduled for April 17, 2023.

At the auction, 100% of the available capacity in this direction was distributed among four bidders.

According to Ukrenergo, electricity exports resumed on April 11, 2023. Now, Ukraine exports electricity to Poland and Moldova, and electricity exports are carried out only provided that domestic consumers receive electricity as a priority.

Ukrenergo mentioned that the maximum capacity for electricity exports to Europe, allowed by the ENTSO-E, is now 400 megawatts. Together with European colleagues, Ukrenergo is working to increase this capacity.

A reminder that Ukraine began to export electricity to Europe in late June 2022. In October 2022, electricity exports were suspended due to Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure facilities. Later, the situation stabilized, and the parties started talks to resume electricity exports to Europe.
