Civil aviation flights will resume as soon as security situation allows – Kubrakov
The Ministry of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development continues to work to resume civil aviation flights as quickly as possible but only after the security situation allows.
"Civil aviation flights will be resumed as soon as the security situation allows. We worked throughout the war year and continue to work to launch flights as soon as possible when the situation allows. We systematically work on three priorities: retention of highly qualified aviation staff, maintenance of aviation infrastructure in proper condition, and deregulation of the industry within the framework of the reform started earlier," Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction – the Minister of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov posted on Facebook.
Kubrakov emphasized that currently the industry is financially supported by the Aeronautical Solidarity Fund which was launched jointly with Eurocontrol. Its resources are primarily used to support the infrastructural, operational and professional components of the air navigation system and professional training and maintenance of the qualifications/competence of operational (dispatcher) staff.
"A new tranche from partners arrived today. The basis for the allocation of funds was the completion of the assessment of the expenses of the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise and the release of a positive report from external auditors – Ernst & Young. Conducting an assessment and audit is a condition for the implementation of the Solidarity Fund in accordance with the agreement between Ukraine and Eurocontrol," the minister added.
As reported, the maintenance of the movement of civil aircraft in the airspace of Ukraine ceased with the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022.
