Over 1.3M ha sown in Ukraine - Agrarian Ministry

As of April 28, 2023, Ukrainian farmers have already sown 1.368 million hectares (ha) of grains and pulses.

According to Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported this.

Ukraine has already sown 206,100 ha of spring wheat, 639,000 ha of spring barley, 121,200 ha of peas, 112,200 ha of oats, 252,700 ha of corn, 330 ha of buckwheat, 4,500 ha of millet, and 32,000 ha of other grains and pulses.

Over the past week, a total of 362,300 ha of grains and pulses were planted, with Sumy region leading the way with 70,900 ha.

Ukrainian farmers have started sowing soybeans. 13 regions have already planted 18,800 ha. Sunflowers are being sown in all regions of Ukraine, with 490,200 ha planted so far.

Sugar beet planting is underway in 14 regions, with 96,100 ha planted.

Ukraine's Agrarian Ministry forecasts that in 2023, the main spring crops will be planted on 5,700,100 ha. This is 206,500 ha less than last year.
