Some consumers without power in six regions of Ukraine

As of May 12, 2023, a mine in Donetsk region was de-energized due to shelling by Russian invaders. Some consumers in six regions are also without power.

According to Ukrinform, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry reported this on Telegram.

"The enemy continues to attack the country's energy infrastructure in the frontline and border areas with Russia. Yesterday, a coal mine in Donetsk region was de-energized due to Russian shelling. Some consumers in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv regions are also left without electricity due to damage caused by Russian hostilities," the statement said.

Despite the difficult security situation, the energy sector continues to restore power supply.

"We managed to restore power to 22,500 consumers over the day. Most of them are in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Donetsk regions," the Ministry of Energy stated.

As reported, the power system has suffered unprecedented damage. A lot of resources and time are still needed to restore the level of reliability that existed before Russian massive shelling.
