Shmyhal: Russia will pay for destroyed property of Ukrainians, economic losses, lost lives
Russia will definitely pay for all the stolen and destroyed property of Ukrainians, economic losses, and the lost lives of people.
"Russia will definitely pay for all the stolen and destroyed property of Ukrainians, for economic losses, and for lost lives. Also, Russia will pay for all its crimes," Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting, Ukrinform reports.
He emphasized that the Council of Europe supported the initiative to create a Special International Criminal Tribunal to prosecute the leadership of the Russian Federation. "Those guilty of aggression and genocide – starting with Putin and ending with every war criminal – will sit on the dock. This guarantees justice and sustainable peace for Europe and the world," the Prime Minister believes.
The Head of Government also thanked the Council of Europe for its firm position on the issue of Russian aggression against Ukraine. But he noted that the next step should be the creation of an appropriate Compensation Fund which will be filled with confiscated Russian assets.
As reported, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Iceland Katrín Jakobsdóttir, and Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte signed this week the Political Declaration on Accession to the Extended Partial Agreement on the Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of Russian Federation against Ukraine. The signing ceremony took place in Reykjavik (Iceland) on the sidelines of the 4th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Council of Europe.
