Government launching compensation for destroyed housing - Shmyhal

The Cabinet of Ministers is launching the second stage of e-Recovery program - compensation for destroyed housing.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Tuesday, Ukrinform reports.

“We are launching the second stage of e-Recovery program. This is compensation for destroyed housing. What will it be possible to spend money on? First, on the construction of a house. In this case, funds will be directly transferred to the account," Shmyhal said.

Secondly, he added, the funds can be used for the purchase of an apartment, another residential premises with the use of a residential certificate. The amount of compensation will be calculated by the commission according to a special formula that will take into account the location of the destroyed object, the year of construction, and the area.

"Also, the amount of compensation is set at a level not lower than the cost of construction of housing of the corresponding area according to its location," the Prime Minister noted.

As Ukrinform reported, on May 19, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that the Cabinet of Ministers was preparing for the stage of paying compensation to Ukrainians for destroyed housing.

The register of damaged and destroyed property already includes information on more than 10,000 affected objects, which was provided by almost 500 communities.
