Shmyhal: Restoration of Kakhovka HPP and related works will cost about €2B
Restoration of the Kakhovka HPP will cost approximately 1 billion euros, and other related works will cost the same.
"According to preliminary data from Ukrhydroenergo [hydropower generating company], the restoration of the hydroelectric power station will cost approximately 1 billion euros. Other related works will cost the same," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting, Ukrinform reports.
According to him, the authorities have already agreed with the World Bank on a quick assessment of damages and needs after this disaster.
As reported, Russian troops blew up the Kakhovka HPP on the night of June 6. On the same day, during an extraordinary meeting, the Government created the headquarters and appointed Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko as the head of works to eliminate the consequences of the HPP explosion.
Evacuation of the population from the flood areas continues.
