IAEA will be monitoring ZNPP's cooling pond very closely - Grossi
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi has said that the organization's observers will be monitoring the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant's cooling pond very closely.
He said this in a video message published on Twitter after his visit to the plant, Ukrinform reports.
"With the water that is here [in the cooling pond], the plant can be safe for some time. The plant is going to be working to replenish the water so that the safety functions can continue normally. Of course, it's something we will be monitoring very closely," Grossi said.
He also added that it is essential that the water in the cooling pond stays at its current level.
"There is evaporation. There can be some leak, but it has to be maintained at that level," Grossi said.
On June 15, Grossi began his visit to the Zaporizhzhia NPP, temporarily captured by Russian troops.
