Gov’t allocating UAH 6.6B for restoring infrastructure in eight regions - PM Shmyhal

The government is directing UAH 6.6 billion from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression to restore infrastructure in eight regions across the country.

This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at the opening of a government field meeting held in Kherson region, Ukrinform reports.

"We must promptly pursue recovery not only in the flood zone but also in other regions. Therefore, today we are directing UAH 6.6 billion from the Fund for the Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression for the implementation of more than 150 projects in eight regions of Ukraine," said Prime Minister Shmyhal.

According to the government chief, these funds will be used for repairs and construction of schools, kindergartens, hospitals, residential buildings, construction and restoration of water mains and sewers, heating networks, and drilling of artesian wells.

"In this way, we are giving a powerful impetus to rapid recovery in all war-affected regions," head of government said.

He also announced that by a separate resolution, the government will allocate another UAH 4.4 billion in subventions to local budgets for the design, restoration, construction, and modernization of social, cultural, housing, and communal facilities. Of them, almost UAH 460 million will go to Kherson region and over UAH 190 million – to Mykolaiv region.

"We are mobilizing all efforts for reconstruction. We are helping those in need," Shmyhal emphasized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the government of Ukraine is holding a field meeting in Kherson region.

According to Shmyhal, the Cabinet of Ministers allocates more than UAH 980 million from the Fund for Elimination of the Consequences of Armed Aggression to pay compensation for accommodation damaged and destroyed as a result of the flood in Kherson region.

In addition, the government sends UAH 560 million for the payment of one-time aid to victims of the explosion of the Kakhovka HPP dam at UAH 5,000 per individual.
