Australian billionaire wants to invest in Ukraine after Recovery Conference
Andrew Forrest, an Australian billionaire and owner of Fortescue Metals Group, announced his intention to invest in Ukraine after Ukraine Recovery Conference held in London.
This is stated in an official communiqué, the text of which is available to Ukrinform.
In his official communiqué, Forrest said that his commitment to Ukraine is simple: when Russia's war ends in a way that satisfies the Ukrainian government, global investment will pour into Ukraine.
He added that one should not set the goal of restoring what Ukraine was with the low-quality infrastructure of the Soviet era. One has to imagine what the country could be like with vision, planning, and access to the best global technologies.
According to Forrest, Ukraine will inherit not the scorched earth of war but a modern, friendly, confident, green, and digital economy and country.
The businessman explained that he will do everything in his power to inspire the business and investment community to achieve this goal. He is looking forward to this moment and will be with Ukraine on the path to the future that the country and the defenders of the Ukrainian nation have so honestly earned.
Forrest emphasized that the people of Ukraine are standing firm against the onslaught of tyranny and that Ukrainians have inspired the world. That is why, at Ukraine Recovery Conference, companies pledged to help Ukraine build a thriving, digital, green, and corruption-free European economy, he noted.
At the conference, Black Rock/JPM prepared for the creation of Ukraine Development Fund. Andrew Forrest invested USD 500 million in it.
