Zelensky expects EU to lift restrictions on imports of Ukrainian agricultural products from Sept
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky expects that the European Union will cancel restrictions on the import of Ukrainian agricultural products from September 15.
The Head of State said this at a press conference following the negotiations with President of Poland Andrzej Duda and President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda in Kyiv on June 28, Ukrinform reports with reference to the president’s press service.
Zelensky noted that this is an important moment for Ukraine. As Russia blocks the grain initiative, at least the possibility of transit. However, according to Zelensky, the transit is also complicated today.
“But still, this issue goes beyond the bilateral relations of Ukraine and Poland – this issue has already been brought to the level of the European Union," Zelensky said.
"We will see how everything will be unlocked. But honorable Mrs. Ursula von der Leyen has promised me personally that there can be no extension of the blockade after (September) 15. We will believe it," the Head of State said.
The President of Poland, for his part, said that there are certain solutions to ensure free trade, but there are still issues that need to be streamlined, which will take time. Duda hopes that after working out the relevant mechanisms, the bans will be lifted as soon as possible.
As reported by Ukrinform, in early June, President Volodymyr Zelensky and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen discussed the ways of implementing the Ukrainian peace formula, the issue of security guarantees and the export of Ukrainian agricultural products.
