Captain of Russian ship suspected of transporting stolen Ukrainian grain

The captain of a Russian vessel has been notified of suspicion of illegal transportation of Ukrainian grain through the temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Prosecutor General's Office reported this, Ukrinform says.

Under the procedural guidance of Crimea's Prosecutor's Office, the Russian captain of the ANT vessel was served a notice of suspicion of violating the procedure for entering and leaving the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea (Article 332-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the captain made 7 visits to the closed commercial seaports of Sevastopol and Kerch to load the looted Ukrainian grain.

Realizing the illegality of his actions, the captain periodically turned off the automatic identification system AIS and entered fictitious information about the course of the vessel, which was allegedly heading to Russian ports, and not to the closed seaports of the temporarily occupied peninsula.

As Ukrinform reported, a court in Ukraine arrested five Russian ships involved in the transportation of Ukrainian stolen grain through the temporarily occupied Crimea.
