Nuclear scientific hub to be built in Slavutych
North Ukrainian nuclear scientific hub will be built in Slavutych town, Kyiv region, for the development of the scientific and business component of nuclear power and the search for solutions for the development of green energy in the country.
"The hub will make it possible to combine the efforts of research institutes, educational institutions, and energy companies in the creation of new projects of nuclear power plants, the solution of safety problems of their operation, the development of related infrastructure," State Enterprise "National Nuclear Energy Generating Company "Energoatom" posted on Telegram.
It is noted that the construction of such a center will contribute to the development of the Chornobyl NPP, the search for ways to further use alienated territories, the development of green energy based on the closed power plant, as well as the consideration of the projects on the storage and disposal of radioactive waste generated as a result of the operation of Ukrainian nuclear plants.
As reported, Energoatom considers the possibility of placing sites for small modular reactors near Slavutych.
