Ukrainian farmers harvest almost 5.9M t of new crop

In Ukraine, agricultural producers have already threshed 5.9 million tonnes of grain from the new harvest.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported this, Ukrinform says.

"Agrarians of all regions of Ukraine harvested early grains and legumes on 1.5 million hectares with a yield of 39.4 centners/ha," the statement reads.

Agricultural producers harvested 2.3 million tonnes of barley from 577,200 hectares (yield, 39.0 c/ha), 3.4 million tonnes of wheat from 831,000 hectares (yield, 41.2 c/ha), and 208,900 tonnes of peas from 85,000 hectares (yield, 24.6 c/ha).

Mykolaiv region is the leader in grain harvesting with 344,800 hectares. Odesa region has the largest harvest of 1.3 million tonnes.

Agrarians in Ternopil and Vinnytsia regions have finished harvesting peas.

Agricultural producers in all regions are also harvesting winter rapeseed. It has been threshed on 563,500 hectares, yielding 1.4 million tonnes of seeds at 24.7 c/ha.

As reported earlier, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food predicts an overall decrease in yields of 5% compared to last year based on the results of the early grain harvest.
