Restrictions on export of Ukrainian agri-products unacceptable - Zelensky

Any continuation of restrictions on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products is unacceptable and un-European.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this on Monday, July 24, in an evening video message, Ukrinform reports.

The head of state noted that he held a large meeting on the export of Ukrainian agricultural products through the territory of European countries. He reminded of the important agreement with the European Commission that September 15 is the deadline for restrictions on Ukrainian grain exports.

"We believe that the European side will fulfill its obligations regarding the date when the temporary restrictions cease to apply," Zelensky said.

According to him, any extension of restrictions is "absolutely unacceptable and frankly not European".

"Europe has the institutional capacity to act more rationally than to close one or another border for one or another product. We are very actively working with everyone to find such a solution that will correspond to Europe’s spirit," he summarized.

As Ukrinform reported, the European Commission has extended until mid-September the ban on the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed, and sunflower seeds from Ukraine to five European countries (Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia).
