Ukraine receives $1.5B from World Bank under Japan’s guarantee
The state budget of Ukraine received US$ 1.5 billion in concessional financing, which is provided under the guarantee of the Government of Japan through the World Bank Trust Fund facility.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance, Ukrinform saw.
“The involved financing will be aimed at recovering the economy and strengthening the social protection of the population. I am grateful for the unceasing support of Ukraine to the Government of Japan during its presidency of the G7, as well as to the World Bank team,” said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko.
It is noted that since the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has received more than USD 581 mln in concessional financing from the Government of Japan through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
This year, the Government of Japan is expected to provide another USD 2 billion in direct budget support through the World Bank Trust Fund.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Japanese government will continue to support Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion and in post-war reconstruction. It plans to hold a special meeting for Japanese businesses to encourage them to participate more actively in Ukraine's economic recovery projects.
