Third meeting with Ukrainian entrepreneurs held at President's Office
The representatives of the President's Office discussed the consequences of systemic corruption in the woodworking industry with Ukrainian businesses at their third meeting.
"The third meeting with businesses opened up a new layer of systemic problems. In particular, we considered interesting cases in the field of subsoil use, the peculiarities of the registration of land plots, the specifics of the participation of law enforcement agencies in the competitive struggle in state procurements. We also touched upon the consequences that the woodworking industry faces as a result of systemic corruption which existed in the forest industry in previous years," Deputy Head of the President's Office Rostyslav Shurma posted on Facebook.
Shurma also mentioned the situation with subsoil use.
"On the one hand, we see many companies that received licenses in past years due to the use of an administrative resource without competition. On the other hand, there is an activity of law enforcement agencies which today exerts ‘pressure’ on these companies," Shurma noted.
He promised that many systemic conclusions and changes would be adopted following the discussion of cases.
"Out of the 12 cases we considered, about five have already been solved or are close to it. The rest need a more detailed study," Shurma said.
The meeting was held with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office and the State Security Service.
The business was represented by Andriy Ostrohrud, the owner of the Kyivguma company; Tetiana Kotsiuba, director of Inkliuz-8 LLC; Oleksandr Berchiy, financial director of Sperco Ukraine LLC, and Tetiana Poliachuk, director of Verba-VV LLC.
As reported, the President's Office created a coordination platform that will consider relations with business. The meetings are scheduled to take place at the President's Office every week.
