Agricultural export restrictions: Solskyi held talks with Hungary, Slovakia ministers

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi held talks with Minister of Agriculture of Hungary István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic Jozef Bires, and Minister of Transport of the Slovak Republic Pavol Lančarič.

This is said in a statement issued by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

It is noted that the meetings were dedicated to suspending the restriction on exports of four crops to five neighboring countries, which were imposed by the European Commission until September 15, 2023.

The parties also discussed the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products in the conditions of the grain corridor suspension.

Solskyi informed his colleagues that the ministry had improved the forecast for this year's harvest, as the weather continues to be favorable. Accordingly, this year Ukraine will be able to export a larger amount of agricultural products than expected.

As reported, in May 2023, the European Commission banned the import of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower from Ukraine to Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania at the insistence of these countries. On June 5, the ban was extended until September 15, 2023.
