Ukraine creates alternative "grain corridor" in the Black Sea - Zelensky

Ukraine has created an alternative corridor for grain transportation through the Black Sea but the nation needs to further strengthen its air defense capabilities.

President Volodymyr Zelensky said this at a joint press conference with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of Greece, Ukrinform reports.

"Ukraine has created an alternative grain corridor in the Black Sea. It can work," the head of state said.

At the same time, he emphasized that in order for the operation to be stable, Ukraine needs to strengthen its "air shield".

"This is important for the Black Sea region, in particular for our city of Odesa. And this can be a historic contribution on the part of Greece to the overall European security, if you help us with protecting the Black Sea water area and with regard to air defense capabilities," the president stressed.

He added that he offered his counterpart several options on how this could be done.

Zelensky also reported that Greek companies are ready to participate in the transportation of Ukrainian grain, noting that Ukraine is counting on it.

As reported, President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Greece on Monday. Prior to that, he visited Denmark, the Netherlands, and Sweden.
