IAEA chief to visit Ukraine, including ZNPP

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Mariano Grossi will visit Ukraine the week after next.

That’s according to The Guardian, Ukrinform reports.

“DG (director general) Grossi is expected to visit Ukraine including Kyiv and the ZNPP the week of 5 February,” an IAEA spokesman said in a statement.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi will soon visit Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant as part the agency’s new rotation of experts, as well as Kyiv and Moscow to discuss NPP safety issues.

Earlier, IAEA experts said that Russian troops had again mined the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant along its perimeter. At the same time, the external power supply to the plant is regularly interrupted, and the occupation authorities are not going to develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance plan in 2024.
