Russian assets must be seized – Zelensky
All Russian assets and assets of individuals affiliated with Russia must work to protect against Russian aggression, and a new EU sanctions package against Russia is needed.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in his nightly video address to the nation, Ukrinform reports.
"I want to note the results of communication with our partners regarding Russian assets: this month, we got closer to the decision that we need, which will be fair. All Russian assets - the assets of the terrorist state itself and its affiliated individuals - which are in different jurisdictions and frozen, must work to protect against Russian aggression. They must be confiscated. And we are doing everything to ensure that this decision is meaningfully prepared in the near future," Zelensky emphasized.
He thanked everyone who helped Ukraine promote this mechanism for restoring justice.
"And of course, sanctions. A new EU sanctions package is needed, and we are preparing it. We are also preparing new steps to limit Russia's ability to circumvent sanctions. Every manifestation of pressure on Russia is bringing peace closer. Every manifestation of aid to Ukraine is protecting life. I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine! I thank everyone who fights and works for our country, our independence, and our people," Zelensky said.
