Ukraine, France renew agreement on peaceful use of nuclear energy

Ukraine and France have renewed the agreement on cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy. The document was extended for 20 years.

That's according to the Ukrainian Economy Ministry's press service, Ukrinform reports.

"The Governments of Ukraine and France renewed the Agreement on Cooperation in the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy signed in Kyiv in 1998. The agreement expired in 2020," the report reads.

The document was signed by Yulia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, and Stephane Sejourne, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France. The signing took place in Paris in the presence of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and President of France Emmanuel Macron.

The agreement creates legal conditions for cooperation in the maintenance of nuclear facilities.
