NBU adopts decisions to strengthen financing of energy reconstruction projects - Shmyhal

The National Bank of Ukraine has made decisions that will facilitate the development of lending for energy infrastructure reconstruction projects.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"The NBU has made decisions that will strengthen the financing of projects to rebuild the Ukrainian energy sector. The potential of banks to increase their loan portfolio by one and a half times is increasing. The new provisions will contribute to the development of project lending, including for the rapid restoration of energy infrastructure,” he wrote.

Shmyhal added that the availability of loans for households and small and medium-sized businesses to purchase energy equipment will also increase. According to him, the NBU's decision is “part of a joint strategy that will help implement the decentralization of Ukraine's energy system.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that this will allow Ukrainian families, housing cooperatives, businesses, and communities to strengthen their energy resilience.

"Preferential loans for energy equipment, simplified connection of new installations, grants for the installation of solar generation and heat pumps. At the same time, the state and communities are installing mini-CHPs across the country. We are working together to ensure that Ukrainian homes have light,” he summarized.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine lost 50% of its electricity generation capacity as a result of the shelling, and the authorities are working to restore it in order to have as much generation as possible by winter.
