Ukrainian seaports double cargo turnover in May

In May 2024, the cargo turnover of Ukrainian seaports totalled 8.265 million tonnes, almost twice as much as in May last year.

This was reported on Facebook by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, Ukrinform reports.

"As of May 2024, 8 million 265 thousand tonnes of cargo were handled by the seaports of Ukraine, which is almost twice as much as in 2023," the statement said.

The leaders of cargo turnover are grain and ore - 5.3 million tonnes and 1.5 million tonnes, respectively (in 2023 - 3.5 million tonnes and 241,000 tonnes).

In May, cargo turnover through the Ukrainian corridor totalled 6.7 million tonnes, of which 4.5 million tonnes were products of Ukrainian farmers.

As reported, in January-May 2024, Ukrainian ports handled almost 45.8 million tonnes of cargo, compared to 26.6 million tonnes in 2023.
