Govt allocates additional UAH 2.5B to support power grid in Kharkiv region

The Cabinet of Ministers has allocated an additional UAH 2.5 billion to prepare the energy system of the Kharkiv region for the upcoming heating season.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said this at a government meeting on Thursday, Ukrinform reports, citing the prime minister's Telegram channel.

"Restoring the energy system, its resilience and preparing it for winter remain a priority for the government. We pay special attention to the Kharkiv region and the city of Kharkiv. The city budget has UAH 2 billion for preparing for the heating season. The government today allocates an additional UAH 2.5 billion for Kharkiv and the Kharkiv region," he said.

According to Shmyhal, these funds will be used to rebuild the energy system of the region and the city and install cogeneration plants, modular boiler plants and gas generators.

"In other words, these are funds for the residents of the Kharkiv region to have light and heat in the winter," he said.
