French arms firm to set up joint venture in Ukraine

The French arms producer Thales signed three agreements with Ukrainian defense enterprises.

This is reported on the company's website, Ukrinform saw.

The first agreement is about creating in Ukraine a joint venture, which will facilitate the supply and operation of equipment for the company's defense systems, including electronic warfare equipment, as well as tactical communication equipment, air defense systems, and radars.

The second agreement concerns electronic warfare equipment, under which Thales will provide extensive maintenance, testing and specialized training. The deal is aimed at developing Ukraine's technical maintenance capabilities, which will allow for shortening repair and maintenance cycles.

The third agreement was concluded with the Ukrainian company FRDM, which specializes in software development. It involves the joint development and production of an unmanned aerial vehicle capable of carrying and dropping an explosive payload.

As reported, Thales announced the purchase of the second complex air defense system by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine after the first such system was delivered in 2023.
