Ukrenergo predicts increase in electricity consumption due to heat wave, calls for emergency assistance

Due to rising temperatures, electricity consumption is expected to increase by 2.5% on 28 June compared to the previous day. Emergency assistance is being used to avoid an increase in blackouts.

Ukrinform reports that NPC Ukrenergo posted this on Facebook.

"Today, on 28 June, regional power distribution companies are applying planned schedules of restrictions throughout the day. According to the forecast, due to the heat, consumption in the afternoon and evening is expected to be 2.5% higher than at the same time on 27 June," the statement said.

Since 27 June, emergency assistance from the power systems of Poland, Slovakia, and Romania has been used to partially cover the deficit. Ukrenergo explained that this allows avoiding an increase in consumption restrictions for consumers.

Electricity imports on 28 June are planned throughout the day from Romania, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, and Moldova in the total amount of 31,390 MWh. No exports are planned.

As reported, the Cabinet of Ministers is considering cancelling the blackout schedules for some frontline areas.
