Harvesting campaign launched across 16 regions of Ukraine

Sixteen regions of Ukraine have already started the harvesting campaign. Early grain crops were gathered from more than 200 thousand hectares with over 720 thousand tonnes of the new-harvest grain threshed.

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Sixteen regions are already harvesting early grain crops. Seven regions began to gather rapeseed, having threshed 63.6 thousand tonnes from 31.7 thousand hectares,” the report states.

Overall, grain and leguminous crops were gathered from 209.8 thousand hectares across Ukraine with 721.4 thousand tonnes of the new harvest threshed.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers gathered 112.8 thousand tonnes of wheat from 36.2 thousand hectares (with the yielding capacity of 31.2 quintals per hectare); 545.7 thousand tonnes of barley from 145.8 thousand hectares (37.4 quintals per hectare); 56.3 thousand tonnes of peas from 25.9 thousand hectares (21.7 quintals per hectare).

Farmers from the Odesa region took the lead, having harvested grain crops from 85.7 thousand hectares so far.

In terms of the yielding capacity, farmers from the Ternopil region topped the ranking with 78.1 quintals per hectare.

A reminder that Ukrainian farmers are harvesting crops from 80% of agricultural lands this year, as about 18-20% of the country’s farmlands are remaining temporarily occupied.
