Portugal pledges EUR 220M in aid to Ukraine this year and next

Portugal plans to allocate EUR 220 million in assistance for Ukraine in 2024 and the same amount in 2025.

This was announced by Portuguese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, Ukrinform reports, referring to JN.

"Portuguese assistance to Ukraine this year will reach more than 220 million euros, and it will be provided in the same amount in 2025," the report said.

Montenegro also added that Portugal intends to reach 2% of budgetary spending on defense, which will be achieved in 2029, a year earlier than expected.

"This international coalition is also considering making a large financial contribution to military, humanitarian, political and economic support for Ukraine," the Prime Minister said.

As Ukrinform reported, in Lisbon, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Portugal Luis Montenegro signed a bilateral agreement on security cooperation.
