Inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 2.2% in June - SSS
In June 2024, inflation in Ukraine's consumer market was 2.2% compared to May; a month ago, consumer prices rose by 0.6% compared to April.
This was reported by the State Statistics Service, Ukrinform reports.
"Inflation in the consumer market in June 2024 was 2.2% compared to May 2024, and 4.3% since the beginning of the year," the report says.
Prices increased by 4.8% compared to June 2023.
It is noted that in the consumer market in June, prices for food and soft drinks increased by 0.5%. Eggs rose the most (by 15.5%). Prices for processed cereals, sugar, sunflower oil, fish and fish products, bread, pasta, soft drinks, rice, butter, and vegetables increased by 3.2 to 0.4%. At the same time, prices for lard, milk, meat and meat products, dairy products, and fruit decreased by 2.6-0.1%.
Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 1.1%.
The 17.4% rise in tariffs for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels was mainly due to a 63.6% increase in electricity prices.
Transport prices increased by 0.8%, mainly due to a 10.0% rise in rail passenger fares.
As reported, in May 2024, the State Statistics Service recorded a 0.6% increase in prices in the consumer market compared to April 2024, and a 2.0% increase since the beginning of the year.
According to the Government's Budget Declaration for 2025-2027, inflation in Ukraine will not exceed 10.4% year-on-year over the next two years, and will slow to 5.9% in 2027.
