Ukraine spends about $670M on electricity imports in 2024 – DiXi Group

In 2024, Ukrainian companies spent USD 669.4 million on electricity imports.

The relevant statement was made by Ukraine’s think tank DiXi Group on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“USD 669.4 million – this is the record-breaking value of last year’s electricity imports. In 2024, they cost Ukraine USD 2 million higher than in the previous five years combined,” the report states.

According to DiXi Group, the reason was that electricity imports hit record volumes and electricity prices changed compared to 2023.

Meanwhile, electricity exports generated USD 81 million last year.

“During 2023-2024, we had a negative foreign electricity trade balance. All because of the war that the terrorist state is waging against Ukraine, destroying our energy infrastructure,” DiXi Group stressed.

A reminder that Ukraine’s electricity imports increased by 5.5 times in 2024 compared to 2023, totaling 4.437 million megawatt-hours. The export of electricity reduced by 5% to 348.5 thousand megawatt-hours.
