Health Ministry: Another child dies of measles in Ukraine
A total of 882 people have fallen ill with measles in Ukraine over the past week, one child has died of complications from the disease, the Public Health Center of the Health Ministry of Ukraine reports.
“Since the start of the year, 24,027 people have contracted measles: 9,682 adults and 14,345 children. Also, 12 people have died of complications from the disease: eight children and four adults,” reads the report.
“882 people fell ill with measles over the 29th week of 2018: 369 adults and 413 children, which is 3.1% more compared with the previous week… Also, a 21-month-old toddler died of complications from the disease in Kyiv region. Since the start of the year, 13 people have died of complications from measles: 9 children and 4 adults,” reads the report.
Since the start of the year, 26,692 people have contracted measles: 10,800 adults and 15,892 children.
The largest number of cases of measles was recorded in Lviv region (4,989 people: 1,568 adults and 3,421 children), Zakarpattia region (2,890 people: 537adults and 2,353children), Ivano-Frankivsk region (2,596 people: 744 adults and 1,852children), Odesa region (2,063 people: 1,028 adults and 1,035 children), the city of Kyiv (1,854 people: 1,139 adults and 715 children) and Ternopil region (1,388people: 540 adults and 848 children).
